Suppose you normally run three separate commands after arriving home:
- turn off the alarm;
- open the garage;
- turn on the entrance lights.
Instead of adding three widgets, assign all three saved commands the same label, such as Arrive home, and add one label widget.
How to create the label group
Create or open the first saved routine
Set the label that will identify the group, for example “Arrive home”. If Alexa needs extra time before the next command, adjust the execution/wait setting.
Give the next routines the same label
Open each additional command and assign the identical label. Only commands with that label become part of the group.
Arrange the execution order
Order the routines in the main Buttons for Alexa list in the sequence you want them to run. This matters when command B depends on command A finishing first.
Add a label widget
Add the label widget to the Android home screen and choose the group you created.
Test the complete sequence
Run the group while you can observe the devices involved. If commands overlap, increase the appropriate execution/wait timing or reconsider the order.
Why execution order and timing matter
Grouped routines are not one atomic Alexa routine. They are separate commands executed sequentially. That means a command that opens a dialogue, waits for a device, or requires a follow-up response can need more time before the next command is sent.
